Fellowship-Trained Phalloplasty Surgeon In San Francisco
Dr. Min Jun, DO is a Reconstructive Urologist whose fellowship training in both reconstructive urology and Gender Affirmation Surgery make him ideally suited as a Phalloplasty surgeon. Dr. Jun worked with the Crane Center for Transgender Surgery in 2020-2023 and now has his own practice in San Francisco, Jun Surgical.
Dr. Jun's residency training in urology was done at Detroit Medical Center with Dr. Richard Santucci. He went on to complete fellowship training in reconstructive and traumatic urology with Dr. Michael Metro at Temple University, as well as a fellowship in gender-affirming genital and robotic surgery with Dr. Lee Zhao and Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner at New York University. He also trained in Gender Surgery with Dr. Miroslav Djordjevic in Belgrade, Serbia and at Crane CTS.
Phalloplasty Donor Sites
Dr. Jun uses either the forearm (RFF) or thigh (ALT) donor sites. Radial Forearm Phalloplasty is typically a 2-stage surgery, with implants put in at the second stage. ALT Phalloplasty can be a 2- or 3-stage surgery, depending on vascular anatomy.
Testicular and/or Erectile Implant surgeries can take place 9 months after Phalloplasty and Scrotoplasty. Dr. Jun uses solid silicone testicular implants made by Alpha Aesthetics, and the malleable rod or 3-piece inflatable penile implants.
Dr. Jun operates at St. Francis Memorial Hospital, California Pacific Medical Center – Davies Campus and Austin San Francisco Surgery Center, all in San Francisco.
Surgery Requirements
Dr. Jun is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH) and follows WPATH guidelines for surgery:
- You will need to provide two referrals from qualified mental health professionals.
- A letter from your hormone specialist stating you have been on Testosterone for at least 12 months continuously, unless clinically contraindicated.
Additionally, patients must be 18+ years of age for surgery as well as consultation.
Insurance
Dr. Jun is in-network with Blue Shield of California and Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP.) Dr. Jun can also bill most major insurance carriers and managed Medi-cal plans as an out-of-network provider. Dr. Jun does not work with: out-of-state Medicaid, Medicare, Tri-Care, Kaiser, Ambetter or Oscar Health.
