Penile Implants Product Guide
Tactra Malleable Penile Prosthesis
The Tactra is a malleable, semi-rigid, non-inflatable penile implant. Made by Boston Scientific, the Tactra is the next-generation malleable implant that replaces the AMS Spectra in their product line. It was designed for easier implantation by surgeons and constructed for durability, rigidity and dependable concealment when not in use.
The Tactra includes a pair of cylinders with a Nitinol (nickel titanium) core covered by a thick dual layer of silicone.
Benefits of the Tactra include:
- Three diameters: 9.5 mm, 11.0 mm, and 13.0 mm
- Longer lengths than the AMS Spectra: 14-23 cm, 16-25 cm, and 18-27 cm
- MRI Conditional up to 3.0 Tesla
Boston Scientific chose not to integrate InhibiZone into the Tactra's coating despite strong evidence of the effectiveness of this coating in reducing penile implant infections by more than 50%. (Boston Scientific's AMS 700 Series implant does use InhibiZone.)
The only other malleable penile implants available in the Unites
States are the Coloplast Genesis
and Rigicon's Rigi10.
