Dr. Jens U. Berli, MD is a plastic surgeon in Portland, Oregon who specializes in gender affirming surgery. He is an Assistant Professor of Surgery in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU.) He joined OHSU's Transgender Health Program in July 2016. OHSU's multidisciplinary Phalloplasty team also includes Reconstructive Urologist Dr. Daniel Dugi and Urogynecologist Dr. Kamran Sajadi.
Dr. Berli graduated from medical school in Switzerland. He joined the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore in 2010 as a Plastic Surgeon. During his time at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Berli learned about transgender surgery and decided to dedicate his career to this field of medicine.
Dr. Berli has spent time studying surgery techniques at the top centers in the world for transgender surgery, including Ghent University, Belgium; Preecha Aesthetic Institute, Bangkok, Thailand; St. Peter's Andrology Centre, London, U.K.; and Belgrade Center for Genital Reconstructive Surgery, Serbia.
In 2015, Dr. Berli started performing Phalloplasty under Dr. Rachel Bluebond-Langner at the University of Maryland. The following year, he spent time with the reconstructive urologists at Johns Hopkins to learn more about improving Phalloplasty outcomes.
